Blogging SEO: keywords and site integration

by angela.booth on September 10, 2006

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is vital for your blogging efforts, whether you’re blogging for a business as a freelance blogger, or blogging for money via advertising fees or affiliate income.

Keywords – the keys to the search engines

Over time, fully 90 per cent of your blog’s traffic will reach you from the search engines. This means that you need to take keywords into consideration. For each blog post you make, ensure that your keywords for that post appear both in the title of the post, as well as in the post itself.

Don’t go overboard – you’re writing for people first, and then to be found in the search engines.

Integrating a Web site and blog

If you’re funneling traffic from your blog to a Web site, use text links on blog postings to specific site pages – your chosen landing pages for that site. It’s not necessary to link every blog post to a page on the Web site, but aim to link at least every third post to a site page.

Watch the site’s statistics to make sure that your tactics are working.
