Blogging for money: one blog or many?

by angela.booth on September 15, 2006

There are two primary ways you can make money blogging. The first way is freelance blogging – that is, you’re blogging for someone else, usually for a business, for pay. Contracts vary, from a month to six months or a year.

The second way is by entrepreneurial blogging. That is, you create a blog, and monetize it. You can monetize your blog by getting sponsorships, selling ad space, and acting as an affiliate seller.

This blog is an entrepreneurial blog; I’m monetizing it by selling products, the first of which is my ebook, Blogging for Dollars.

I’m often asked: which is better, one blog, or lots of blogs?

What do you want to achieve?

I always answer that question by asking: “What do you want to achieve?”

For example, if you’re selling products as an affiliate, then you’ll need more than one blog, simply because of the wide range of products you could sell.

You can think of it this way: ONE topic, ONE blog.
