Blog tech: deep-linking your entries

by angela.booth on September 21, 2006

LINK! Linking is a commandment for any search engine optimization (SEO) efforts, and your blog entries need to link to each other, otherwise they’ll end up in supplemental hell in Google and will never be found, because they’re not returned in the search engine results pages (SERPs).

There are various ways you can deep-link your entries. The best way is probably to use text links between entries when you can, but this isn’t always possible.

Lifehacker is implementing a nifty way of linking to older material. They’re running “Retro roundup: One year ago on Lifehacker”. Great idea. It generates links, so the search engines pay attention, and it gives you extra content for little effort.
