I’ve always called a blog a one-minute business, however to launch a blog which will be a real money-spinner, take the time to do a little planning.
How will you monetize your blog?
Monetizing a blog doesn’t just happen. Unfortunately, while your blog is a one-minute business, and most of your business development costs will be zero or close to it, your venture does need development.
Lately, I’ve seen many people (not the ones who buy my blogging ebook and follow the step by step process I’ve laid out for success) create a blog, with just a few posts, and monetize the blog immediately.
This is not the best strategy. You need to think about HOW you’ll monetize the blog, and then develop the blog first, before you start advertising, or adding other money-making ventures to it.
The preparation starts before you launch your blog – you must know how you’ll monetize it, and proceed from there.
For example, ReviewMe has just launched. The site brings advertisers and bloggers together. You might decide that ReviewMe and other similar venues will be part of your monetization strategy. This decision sets you on a path to working out which advertisers you want to attract, and then developing a plan to attract them.
Preparation is everything, so prepare, then begin, and before you know it you’ll own a blog which is a real business.
