A new blogger, who’s already an experienced affiliate marketer, asks whether it’s best to create just one blog, and promote it, or start off with a blast and create ten or more. **
It depends.
Let’s say that you have:
* a personal blog, that’s an online portfolio which prospective clients can visit to learn more about you (as a blogger, you WILL be offered blogging gigs, even if you’re not touting for them);
* a “money” blog, which you monetize with advertising; and
* a new blog that you’ve set up for a product that you’re marketing as an affiliate.
That’s three blogs. Top pro bloggers routinely manage 20 to 30 blogs, but you can’t create them all in one day. Take it slowly.
Build up your new affiliate blog with at least ten posts. Support the blog with articles that you post for promotion. (See my article on how to get traffic.)
Create a newsletter. Then do some Pay Per Click advertising, to see whether this blog sells. If you make any sales with this blog, stick with it, and give it another shove with another ten posts before you create another blog. In fact, if this blog proves a winner, and you make a few sales with it in the first few weeks, then add lots of content to this blog before you spread yourself too thin with too many.
Not every blog will be a winner. Make sure that you research the market first – are people actually searching for the keywords you’re targeting? If they are – and if they’re buyers, you’ll know within a week or two. If you’ve miscalculated, not a problem. Choose another niche.
My blog-empire building tip
Start off with one blog, and test that to see whether it’s worth persisting with, then add another, and another…
** Note – I’m not recommending that you use an auto-creation tool for any blog. Auto-created blogs are not viable long-term (because of search engine changes), and you can’t build a salable business with them.
