When good blogs go bad

by angela.booth on April 25, 2007

What do you do when a blog just isn’t working for you in the way it’s supposed to?

Easy. Drop the blog and start another one.

I’ve got many blogs – some for my own interests and work, and others which I work on for my copywriting clients – and occasionally, it becomes obvious that a blog isn’t working.

Decisions: import your old blog’s post, or start afresh?

You can import the posts from your original blog, but after doing this several times with mixed results, I just start a new blog.

The advantages of a new blog are:

* Your old blog’s post keep their Page Rank

* You save time – it’s easy just to create a final post with the new blog’s URL, so people can find it

* Your old blog may occasionally surprise you when a post or two catches fire, and the blog’s suddenly gathering lots of attention and links.

So if a blog’s not living up to your expectations, don’t mess around. Start afresh. There’s always room for one more blog. :-)
