Everyone and his dog has a blog. With 75 million blogs online and more blogs being added every minute of the day, you need to make marketing your blog (getting noticed) a priority.
One of the easiest ways to get noticed is to write an online press release. You can certainly write an offline press release too, but an online press release is easier.
Here’s how I define the difference between an online press release, and an offline press release: an online press release has one single purpose, and that’s to get you backlinks. The more backlinks you have to your blog, the more visitors you’ll get. An offline press release aims to get you media attention.
Although it’s true that you can strike it lucky and get media attention with a press release you’ve written purely for linking, it’s not likely.
If you’re not sure of how to format a press release, PRWeb has a great template for you to use.
Here’s a vital point to keep in mind: a press release must contain news of some kind. A press release isn’t ad ad for anything, it’s news. The sole aim you have for press releases you write for you blog is to get links so your traffic rises, but it should contain news.
Your news can be pretty much anything you please. If you say it’s news, it’s news.
Post your press releases to your blog, too
You’ll want to post your press releases to a PR service, like PRWeb (a great service), you should also post your releases to your blog, just in case one day a journalist does want to do a story on you, your release provide background information.
