Blogging without stress – relax

Whether you’re blogging for yourself on your own entrepreneurial money-making blogs, or are blogging for someone else, relax. Relaxation is vital to stress-free blogging.

Here are some ways to relax:

* Play music while you’re blogging. This isn’t for everyone, nor is my own favorite option when I’m stressed – I play 1960s and 1970s British comedies like Yes, Prime Minister and Tony Hancock;

* Take regular breaks. I work for a couple of hours, then take 20 minutes off. I take my dog for a walk, or just stretch;

* Plan your blog posts a week ahead. Over on my writing blog I’ve written about the importance of realizing that writing is a process;

* Change your schedule. Some blogs don’t need daily posts, so why bother? If a blog’s in a highly-targeted niche, there’s a limited number of searches each day. Getting yourself into a lather won’t increase the number of daily searches, so relax. You’ll find too, that even blogs posted on once every couple of weeks will get rankings and links as they age.

In highly competitive niches, with hundreds of thousands of searches and the same amount of competition, you do occasionally need to blog daily – or write several posts a day. In these situations, look for a niche within your niche – check out forum posts, and do some keyword research to discover these;

If you’re under contract to post four times daily to a blog and you’re stressed, it’s time to look for a guest blogger or two to take the pressure off.

* Exercise daily. Exercising, whether you go to the gym, swim, walk or jog, is vital. You build up stress hormones as you sit in your chair. These hormones will damage your mind and body. You need to get up and MOVE. You’ll be surprised that even if you take just half an hour to exercise, you’ll feel much better when you return, and you’ll be more productive too;

* Eat well. Pizza and chocolate are fine for the occasional treat, but you need good, wholesome food. Eating junk places added stress on you. Take care of your diet, and stress will roll off you.
