If you’re looking for a blog job, there are plenty out there. Before you start gig hunting however, do a little preparation.
Preparation will pay off – you’ll get more interest in any “blogger for hire” ads that you place on Craigslist and elsewhere, so you’ll be able to charge what you’re worth.
Here’s how to prepare:
* Create a portfolio/ resume blog;
* Post some writing samples on the blog. Choose topics in which you have some experience, so you can show off your writing skills;
* List the fields/ subjects you can cover. For example: business, technology, health, celebrities, etc;
* If you’re techy, and can install blogs and customize them, say so on the portfolio blog.
Tip: if you have a personal blog, be wary of using it as your portfolio blog.
Personal blogs are usually too personal for the business environment. Think of your portfolio blog as your “job interview” blog. Just as you wouldn’t show up at a blog interview in an old T shirt and scruffy jeans, don’t present your personal blog as an example of your blogging skills.
