You’ve been thinking about starting a blog, but every subject and niche you consider already has dozens of bloggers swarming all over it. What do you do?

Just pick a subject that you really like and get started: ignore the competition.

Blogging’s so popular now that any viable niche you choose will have lots of other bloggers. However, they won’t approach a niche in the same way you will, so your blog will be different.

One of my blogging students sent me a list of ten topics today. He was convinced that the competition was too great in each one of them.

I looked at the first three topics he’d picked, did a little keyword research, and immediately found several angles in each of the topics that no one else was covering.

Competition is GOOD

If there’s competition in a niche, it’s means that that niche is profitable. It’s working for others, so it will work for you too. So don’t be put off by competition.

Yes, it would be great to find a niche with zero competition, but it’s better to find a niche that you enjoy. When there’s lots of competition, it’s a good thing.
