Are you a patient blogger? If you’ve been blogging less than a year, chances are you’re not. You want traffic, and you want it NOW.
Your impatience leads to stress, which leads to blogger burnout. Take a long term view: you’re building an asset which will become more valuable over time. Many bloggers start out with great enthusiasm, then stop blogging when their expectations aren’t met instantly.
Building an audience takes time
To build an audience, you need content – original content. Each post doesn’t have to be a total magic, but each post should contain at least one insightful nugget, or some useful information for your readers.
The more content you have, the more gateways you have to your blog. As your content is indexed, more readers will find you. Your initial ten readers will become 20, then 50, then 200.
Focus on your content, rather than on your traffic: your traffic will build naturally, as your content grows. You can build traffic in various ways: by advertising, writing guest posts on other blogs, and by writing articles for directories.
Your main focus however should be on your content, because it’s your content which builds your traffic – and which builds your asset.
