Make money by selling ad space on your blog

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

How much advertising is too much on your blog? You’re your own judge of that. :-)

Here’s a post to show you how top bloggers do it: How the top bloggers display their ads - Percentages and numbers says: “Blogging for money has become a million dollar business, top bloggers make thousands of dollars each month for paid reviews and displaying ads on their sites. I took screenshots of the visible portion of some of the top blogs and counted how much of that was paid space.”

New blog theme: Daleri - three columns and widgets

wordpress daleri-1.jpg

Further to my WordPress theme hunt.

I installed Deliciously Blue, and liked it a lot. Eventually, I may go with this theme after all…

Then I spotted Andreas Viklund’s Daleri theme, which is new to me. Three columns, beautiful navigation, so it’s now my choice. For the time being.

I’ve spent a lot of time trying out themes, but now I’ve got a great selection of themes for future projects.

That’s what I’m telling myself. Of course, it’s also true that I’m a prize procrastinator.

Blogging: how often do you check your stats?

How often do you check your stats? It’s OK To Be A StatsAHolic says: “While there are lots of good reasons to check your stats, gaining more traffic from search engines is one of the very best. Mining known site data is one of the best ways to manage your SEO campaign. If you can get a feel for what types of phrases visitors are searching for, you can give them more of what they want.”

I rarely remember to check my stats, so I force myself to write a short report for each blog every month.

Using the information in your referrer logs to see WHY people are coming to your blog is great advice, BTW. If I’m having a “what the ???” couple of days and have no idea what I should blog about, my logs tell me what people want.

There are many stats packages available, but for most purposes your site’s own stats are fine. I use the Stat Traq plugin on several of my WordPress blogs.
