Blog search – use blog search to get answers

by angela.booth on September 1, 2007

I love blog search engines, especially Google Blog Search.

When I have a problem with something or other. Blog Search has (so far) never let me down.

For example, currently my irritation-of-the-day is Namecheap, a site I use to buy domain names. I wanted to spend a relaxing couple of hours this morning setting up a new domain, but unfortunately I hadn’t transferred the site to my hosting company, so I needed do that first.

But… namecheap.com was (I assumed) down, because I couldn’t reach the site.

I carried on with tasks on my To Do List, checking namecheap every hour or so. Nothing.

Finally I typed [namecheap] into Google Blog Search, and immediately discovered the site was having problems. Unfortunate, but at least I now know what’s happening.

The first time I used Blog Search to solve a problem was when a DVD got stuck in my Mac Mini. I couldn’t get it out, but Blog Search gave me the solution. Turn the machine off and on again, and just let it run. It takes a few minutes for the Mac (15 minutes or so in my case) to realize that the optical disk is not a bootable DVD, load, and then it will spit out the DVD.
