I’ve been using ecto as a desktop blogging tool ever since I made the switch to the world of Mac computing. In the past few months however, ecto has been flakey. The app hasn’t been updated in a while, and although I still use it, I’ve been posting to several of my blogs manually. Less hassle.
When MarsEdit came out with a new version I hesitated. I tried it a year ago, and didn’t like it. But nothing ventured, nothing gained, I decided to try the latest version.
It’s great. It posts to blogs that ecto for some weird reason took a dislike to and wouldn’t post to, and it’s easy to use in combination with my browsers and text editor of choice, TextMate. I LOVE TextMate, and MarsEdit lets me hit a hotkey and edit in my favorite environment.
I’ll still use ecto, because I’m used to it – I just hope they bring out a new version soon – but I’ve added MarsEdit to my blogging toolkit. It will save me the hour or two I’ve been wasting in manual blogging each week. Check out the MarsEdit site for its features – they’re impressive.
