As a new blogger, you’ve heard that there’s money in “niche” blogs, that is, blogs on a topic which is income-generating.
There is, and there’s an art to finding a money-making topic for your niche blog.
New bloggers tend to pick topics which aren’t easily monetized (don’t ask me how I know this), so when you’re starting a niche blog, pick a subject you can kick. That is, pick a PRODUCT, rather than a general topic.
When you focus on a much-searched product, you know that people want to buy the gizmo, whatever it is. (You’ll need to do some keyword research to find out just how many people are searching for the gizmo.)
This means that rather than choosing “cooking” for your niche blog, you choose a topic like slow cookers, or coffee makers. This doesn’t mean that every post on the blog needs to be about slow cookers, but choosing a PRODUCT rather than a general topic gives you a leg-up when it comes to money-making.
With a product-focused blog, you’ll also get more traffic sooner than general-topic blogs. Staying with the cooking example, there are thousands of cooking blogs, but far fewer slow cooker blogs.
