You love blogging. You add to your blog several times a week, and are thrilled whenever new subscribers show up in your Feedburner stats.
You’re running a WordPress blog (of course) so all the free time you have to spare when you’re not creating content, you’re exploring plugins and themes.
You’re going to splash out on a commercial theme, when you find the PERFECT theme for your niche.
Is your blog a business? Or is it a hobby?
The attributes I outlined above signal that you’re a hobbyist blogger, which is great; many pro bloggers start out as hobbyists.
You may be happy just blogging as a hobby. However, if you want to become a professional blogger, you need to pay attention to the money aspect.
Ask yourself questions like:
How much money do I want to make with this blog?
How much capital can I invest to reach my income goals?
Am I building a site just for me, or do I intend to sell the blog when it’s making a respectable sum each month?
Your blog won’t magically turn into a business. However, if you ask the right questions, and set out on a path to meet your income and other goals with your blog, then before you know it, you’ll have a blog which is a real business. Then you can build your business, or you can sell the blog.
