I was just writing “Are you making money online?” which talks about perfectionism and I realized that perfectionism is rampant among new bloggers, and established bloggers too.
Perfectionism will kill your blog if you let it. I get several questions each week, the main thrust of which is: “If I do this, will it be right?”
Notice that these bloggers aren’t doing anything… perfectionism has them firmly by the throat. They want to be sure that when they eventually do do something, it will be the perfect thing.
Do it YOUR way
There is NO RIGHT WAY when it comes to blogging. I get the giggles when I look at A-list bloggers who made grand pronouncements about blogging just a couple of years ago. They’ve reversed themselves on their own ideas so many times it’s surprising they don’t have whiplash.
If you paid attention to their former “musts”, you’d be in a mess, and would have given up blogging for good.
So don’t worry about what others do, or what they say. What counts is what YOU do.
The answer to “If I do this, will it be right?” is “Try it and see.”
Just try stuff. Have fun. No one dies from blogging. So let yourself go: be yourself. Do what you do.
