Do you want to create a blog? Blogging has become very popular as a home-based business in the last 12 months, and many people are making money as bloggers. You can certainly do the same. However many people fail, because they don’t do enough planning before they start.

Let’s look at what goes into planning.

1. Research Your Topic: How Will You Make Money?

If you’re new to blogging, you may not realize that there are many ways in which you can make money with your blog. Before you start a new blog, decide how you’ll monetize that particular blog.

If you don’t work out how you’ll make money, you’ll find it an extreme challenge later.

For example, if you want to use advertising as a way of generating income from the blog, you’ll need a lot of content, and that means you’ll need to add posts daily.

Bloggers with content-rich blogs, which focus on advertising, post anywhere from four to ten times a day — every day. So obviously, if you’re going to run this type of the blog, you’ll need several hours a day to devote to the blog.

2. Create a Business Plan

You need to create a business plan for your blog, as you would for any other business. Your business plan doesn’t need to be complicated, however you do need to know:

* What your goals are

* How much money and time you have to invest

* What opportunities you’ll tackle

* What threats you’ll face

The time you spend in research and creating a plan will be amply repaid — it will ensure the success of your blog.

3. Create a Marketing Plan

Once established, your blog will need to be marketed.

There many ways in which you can market your blog, ranging from paid advertising, to free forms of promotion. All these activities take time, so you’ll need to schedule your marketing as you schedule content creation and other work you do on your blog.

The more you plan your blog before you start it, the more likely it is you’ll be successful.

Blog: How Long Will It Take to Make Money Blogging?

One of the most common questions new bloggers ask is: “how long does it take to make money blogging?” Depending on how you set a blog up, you should start making money with a blog within a couple of weeks. If you’re not making any money at all for months at a time, go back and rethink your strategy.

These three tips will help.

1. Monetization Starts Before You Create Your Blog

Monetizing your blog stats before you create it. You need to decide on a focus for your blog, and how you’ll make money with it, and then set up the blog for that purpose.

If you just set the blog up without planning, it’s unlikely you’ll make money.

2. Converting an Old Blog Into a Money-Maker

If you’ve never made any money with a blog, you can start making money. Many of these non-earning blogs tend to be blogs which are personal in nature. A blog which is all about YOU is hard to monetize. However it if the blog has been online for a period of time, it will have ranking in the search engines, and some traffic.

The best way to use one of these old blogs is to siphon off the traffic into a new blog you’ve created in order to make money. However, you can also write product reviews, and can monetize directly on this blog.

Some of your readers may be annoyed, but since your blog, you can do what you like with it.

3. Single-Product Blogs Make Money Faster

If you want to make money quickly with the blog, the easiest way is to focus the blog on just one product or service.

You can choose anything you like. For example let’s say you’re an affiliate for fitness machines. You can set up a blog for elliptical trainers, or for exercise bikes and make money quickly. You could even set up a blog for just one brand of these products. The more focused a blog is, the sooner you will earn with it.

Making money with blogs is reasonably simple, as long as you start out by planning before you create your blog. If you not making money, take action now, using our three tips.

Blogging Beginner: How to Plan Your New Blog

Are you a beginner to blogging? Your success as a blogger starts before you create your first blog. Planning is vital; the more you plan before you start your blog the more success you will have.

Let’s look at three things you should think about before you create your blog.

1. What’s the Blog’s Purpose?

You can have many reasons for blogging. However for each blog you create, create one reason for its existence and write that reason down.

Your reasons for blogging could include: making money, becoming better known in your industry, selling a product (either your own or an affiliate product), or having fun.

2. Who Is the Target Audience?

Who will read your blog? Why will they read your blog? These are questions you need to answer. A very common mistake bloggers make when creating their first blog is to either not think about the audience at all, or choose the wrong target audience.

For example in the “make money blogging” arena new bloggers often choose to create a blog around what they’re learning — how to make money on a blog. However since they haven’t yet learned how to do it themselves, they soon run out of content.

You can certainly target the “make money blogging” audience even if you’re a new blogger and are new to making money, however confine yourself to those things you know. Many bloggers approach this by blogging their earnings or lack of earnings over the blog’s first few months. This tactic works.

Here’s another example. Let’s imagine you’re just been laid off. You’re using your blog as the venue to help you to get a new job. What should you blog about? Who’s the target audience?

Obviously in this situation your target audience is the people who can hire you. You could create a portfolio blog which talks about your successes in your previous employment. As long as you have your target audience in mind your blog will be a success.

3. How Will You Market Your Blog So You Can Connect With Your Audience?

There are many ways to market a blog. Choose methods with which you’re familiar, and which are easy for you. Marketing can be fun, or it can be torture. If you choose methods you enjoy, you’ll find that marketing is fun.

The easiest way to market your blog is to advertise. If you go this route, work out how much money you can afford to spend on marketing and stick to your limits. Don’t start off by using inexpensive marketing methods like Pay Per Click advertising. Pay Per Click is only for experts. However it does work, and it’s the fastest method of marketing your blog.

So there you have it: your blog’s success lies in your planning.
